Supreme Training Powerlifting Club
As a club we have been running now for about 16 months. In that time we have had some great successes; we’ve had team members lift in regional, national, and international events, both gaining experience and winning medals! The most successful aspect of the Powerlifting Club is the part that happens behind closed doors and away from the platform – the training! We have lifters coming in and training as a club week in and week out. Whether we are helping someone prepare for a competition, or taking the first steps to building the foundation that will one day see them lifting on the platform, the support is always there. This is by no means an individual sport, having a supportive team around you is essential to developing as a Powerlifter. As we come to a close of 2015, I’d like to thank everyone who has been a part of Supreme Training Powerlifting Club. Without you lot, this wouldn’t have been possible.
Another thank you has to go to our Head Coach, David O’Brien. David has influenced everything I relay to our lifters. I could not have started the club without his 15+ years experience in this sport, nor would I have attempted to do so. When we discussed starting a club, I wanted him to be right at the forefront, to ensure everyone received top quality coaching and information.
I’d also like to say, congratulations to David for his achievement of being selected to represent his country at the Commonwealth Championships in Canada. It’s an achievement we at the club are very proud of!
2015 also marks the year of my first seminar, which went down a treat with Supreme Training’s Powerlifting Club members. It was exclusively for our lifters to ensure they continue to learn and develop. I arranged for Delroy McQueen to come down and deliver a full on eight-hour day seminar. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience as a lifter and a coach, and had a really positive effect on the group. It was great to have Delroy down for the day and the enthusiasm shown after the seminar from the lifters was incredible. I envisage that they will all hit bigger numbers with improved technique thanks to Delroy’s advice. I will definitely be inviting him back down in the future, and I can 100% recommend other clubs out there to seek his advice and book him for seminars. You will not be disappointed!
I know 2016 is going to be just as successful and rewarding as this year due to the determination and passion of our lifters. As a club, we are always looking for new members to come and train with us and represent Supreme Training Powerlifting Club so please get in touch if you would like to join us!
I will also be organising further seminars next year with world class lifters to come in and deliver workshops to the club as I am dedicated to helping our lifters progress and receive the best advice out there.
Here’s a little highlight reel of 2015:
Merry Christmas everyone and all the best for the New Year!
